Here's a new thread intended for those who love the Windsurfer Class. We enjoy the Fun, Freedom and Adventure with the OriginaL SpiriT and the One Design Concept of three generations of Windsurfer: Original, One Design and LT.
Please share your experiences, tips and tricks, photos and videos, event info, race results, news, recreational fun and beginner or family experiences. Our class supports anyone interested in taking up the sport and feel the Windsurfer LT is an ideal way to start the sport. It is a handy beginner board, great for recreational sailing in a variety of conditions and also a great setup and class to access world class sailing experiences in big fleet racing on identical equipment.
Members of the class, those that have sailed the Windsurfer Class in the past, those interested about the class and those who enjoy or like to know more about windsurfing the Original Windsurfer Brand one design are very welcome to post and comment.
Knockers and those not interested in constructive comments are not welcome to post negative comments based on opinion and not facts or actual experiences on the Windsurfer and should refrain from bagging and niggling our subscribers on this forum.
That said, there are many terrific aspects of the sport of windsurfing, nothing is perfect for everyone and we are blessed to have so many choices of equipment these days. Our sport is making a comeback and seeing increased participation from older sailors getting back into the sport, young sailors, females and adventure seekers worldwide.
Some of us believe the Windsurfer is the best overall board and rig combo for around the buoys racing that can also be used for a variety of other uses from Freestyle, just cruising, blasting and even paddling and surfing. A board so versatile can't possibly be the best at everything - but hey, it ain't too shabby either!
Get on board! Windsurfer LT.
Let's have some fun on the water and share with friends.
Looking forward to seeing your stories, news, tips, history, questions and more.
Cheers,
Al

Hey Windsurfers,
you, like me probably use a number of apps or sites for checking on local weather. Seabreeze, WillyWeather, BOM etc give us some good info. However, we all probably know of some local webcams or weather stations situated at local club, Marine rescue centre or private residences on the waterfront that may be useful for others sailing in our area either as a visitor or local. I'm compiling a list of weather stations and webcams on Lake Macquarie at present and seeking more sources locally and across NSW and Australia for our Windsurfers. If you can spare a few minutes, please forward or post links for us all to share. I will be compiling all on an app called Team App which I'm currently setting up for NSW Windsurfer Class members with a specific page for weather info accessible to the general sailing public.
This may make windsurfing experience more enjoyable and safer for all and can help those new to the sport.
Many thanks in advance,
cheers,
Al Haynes

Hi guys, just doubling up on the Facebook group with this is question, in case this catches someone that doesn't: A little birdie told me that the states might be at Port Stephens in. was it nov? Can anyone confirm? Can't see info anywhere. Need to sort with work as much ahead as possible.
I'm told it might be dec 5-6 (meaning 4-5 I presume).
Please note contrary to the original posters note, unless there have been recent changes there is no Bic TAHE Techno in the Australian Master Games (AMG). Hence "AND TECHNO" should be deleted where ascribed to the AMG.

Hey thanks Richard, will fix calendar. Good news. LT rules, besides master being over 30 makes sense! Al

Hey Delmar,
Port Stephens was going to be hosting States, however, with all the Covid issues and uncertainties, the Toronto November summer series was postponed to December 4,5. The earlier Palm Beach summer series event was also cancelled as a result of Covid rules. As a consequence, it was decided to run the States from Toronto at the same event at Toronto on 4,5th December 2021. It appears this is a safe bet with lockdown easing of restrictions roadmap from NSW Gov. We will return to Port Stephens in April for the Sail Port Stephens event. Palm Beach event has been rescheduled for the 27th February. Cheers, Al Haynes NSW Joint Windsurfer Class Rep.

Hi champions, just after some advice re a weed fin. I raced yesterday at what will be new regular club and I'm going to need a weed fin (realising it's not class legal: this will just be for club racing). After trying the standard fin I came in and changed to a weed fin I have for the short board- an MFC weedride_36. Two issues:
a. It didn't work: angle wasn't enough and I still gathered a clump of weed over time.
b. It seemed way too big. Tacking was slow and I had real trouble pointing and getting into an upwind groove. Maybe my skills are lacking of course...
Anyway the obvious thing seems something like an MFC weedburner 29, which is both smaller and more angled for shedding weed better. One of the guys there had one and seemed happy with it.
I just wondered if anyone here had any wisdom to add before I pull the trigger?
