Hi, hope I wont get you mad to publish a windski video here on the windsurfing forum. Whatsoever, here is a first video of a serie (3-4) to come. This video have been made with some pictures too small to be use by a magazine.
After 4 years without good conditions for windski and windsnow, we finaly had some good conditions to take some pictures and videos. When I realised that the pics were in a small format I was shocked, but the wind was still there and we had the chance to continue the photo shoot.
Whatsoever, I decided to show you those pic with this video. Thanks for watching and comments, so I could try to do better with the next ones to come!
Thanks again for watching!! Cheers! I will try to had one, once a week...
The rider with the snowboard is Gregoire Lafortune, from iGetwind. I forgot to add his name on the video. Sorry Greg!
Thanks to him for his participation and for his cameras. Because of him, I will be able to show you some good footage like you were sailing with us. I did used his GoPro camera for that. It's fun to watch!
Cheers!
Great sequence. Just curious, how much wind was there during the session? As a skier, I'm also trying to get my head around the configuration where you have the skis connected at the front. The body dynamics involved look a look different to how they are when you are just skiing. Waiting to see more! Thanks
after the snow we had ice !!
Riviere Milles Isles with westerly winds 20-40 kph
HSM Fire 6.3 was a bit too big for the conditions ...
homemade ice sled ...
Hi Joe, fun to see that you still participating!! It was really icy on the river! Another month and it will be on the water again. :)
For Musorianin, on the first video, the wind was arround 15-25 knots. The condtitions to have fun with a windski like the one I use have to be good. If it's get to icy then you need less wind and if there some snow, then you need a bigger sail. The best conditions it's hard snow, close to be icy, like in my pictures show. My nextx videos will perhaps give a better idea of the conditions. Temperature have to be arround - 10 C. As soon as it get warmer, it's getting slower. It's a touchy sport but when it's good it's supe fun. There is almost no friction and you could ride without harness, and it's better like that because wearing a harness on snow is a bit dangerous.
yes, on deeper snow I will try to use a harness
on the ice it is all about control
i wear the harness in case i fall on my axx
i love it on ice n snow, but it is NOT for everyone - fell two or three times at low speed
that was bad enough
I do use a helmet and a harness under my coat to protect my back. On ice, it's more rare, but it could be super fun with almost no wind, 10-15 knots.
I think I will make my next video shorter, 2 min might be enough and it's need less work. To be continued!
Ok, my little project is going good. I clear my ideas about the way to present our footage. Finaly I will present two more videos, I will add them here. The one to come, saturday, is called Time to Sail on Snow, The Return. : )
Today, it's a good day! My coloc found me the song as was looking for!! Now I have something for ma last video! : ) It's a new band from Montreal region. I don't want to tell you the name of the band, but I could say that they were once at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
So the film is going to be called Time to Sail on Snow Addiction! : ) Ho yeah!
Ok Here is my video Time to Sail on Snow - The return! Have a good saturday! Next week, I will present you Time to Sail on Snow - Addiction!
Ok here is my last video, Time to Sail on Snow - Addiction. We had a lot of fun to ride on those beautifull conditions and now we have as much fun to share it with you.
Cheers!

Wicked guys. Used to do windskate on a long board....really sketchy in more than 15knots powersliding and crashing...ouch like coming off a motor bike.
You've obviously put a lot of work into your short films. Thanks for sharing them.
Short skis or long skis? I've got my old GS 220s on display in my man cave haven't been used for 15 years.
I was talking to Appleman last night. Winter is coming in Tasmania. We're keen to give it a try. We're going to start scouting some spots in our Highlands.
Hi guys, if you could get some hard snow or icy snow it worth to try. Some will say it could be hard for the knees but you could use open boots to be loose on them and move easier. You could see here how to built a windski and a windsnow.
