Just sitting here watching the drinks break on the test match having a beer and wondered about hydration.Does anyone use a camelpak when windsurfing?
I know I don't drink enough when out on the water.![]()
I was so thirsty yesterday on the water I went and bought one, Didn't use it today because I felt like a goose when I tried it on, Probably will use it on long sessions or when the tide is out and we have to walk 500m to the water, getting bloody hot now in north QLD.
You didn't happen to lose a can of Carlton Mid strength beer then did you?? Cos if you did I found it floating at Pelican Point. Perhaps you better re think the camel pack.
Does the camel pack have a mesh pouch? Could be a good spot to put the GPS in aqua pack in there as well.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I have seen quite a few guys using the aqua pack, so dont be shy just get one and use it, you will be the one with a wet whistle :)
Cheers GT![]()
would be good to have a camel pack specialized wet suit, with either a built in on, or pouch for one, that way it would be part of the ushall outfit, and not just another piece of crap to throw in the back of the car
Good thinking Jordo, may be windwarrior can take that up, they are windsurfer specific, don't think many other wet suit users would want one.
I've found it's easy to wear too much wetsuit. You don't notice you're sweating, cause you're wet any way. Then you wonder why you come in so thirsty, I try now to only wear as much thermal stuff as necessary.
I wear one. You don't really need anything windsurfing specific. Once you use it the first time, it tends to become standard equipment.
Used to use one in the middle east all the time, a real necessity. That model tended to feel a bit awkward as it floated when waterstarting but the best part was filling it with ice before you went out. Make sure that the neck is big enough for ice cubes and enjoy a cold drink. Fix the bite valve in place and you don't have to take your hands off.
could have done with one to pt in a spare uj out at the island on fri,,,,,doh ![]()
think i'll get one...hows the fit....does it go alright with a waist harness and whats the chaiff factor on the arm pits from the straps>??????
Seem to remember Leech posting on here about his kite/windsurf harness / impact vest / camelbak thingo...apparently it was all of those things in one
.
Sounded like the biz.
Windy...did you have to swim in?
Busting UJ's is a scary thought...board can go one way and the rig the other.
Lots of guys on the race circuit wear them, couldn't go with out it, so don't feel embarrased.
The NP bouyancy vest has clips for attaching a NP pack/bladder, or I just put a 1 litre bladder in the pocket in the back of my impact vest.
Hi Windy,
Sorry mate I dont have one and have never worn one, cant help re the fit.
They do look pretty effective.
Cheers GT
I use a Pryde bouyancy vest that has a camel back attached. ( 1 litre = 1 kilo)
The cool thing is you can get seperate bladders for it, so I have 2, one for vodka and orange and one for water.
They are also useful for smuggling alcohol into the cricket [}:)]
I used to have a small bladder from a camel back style system that fit into the back pocket on a Da Kine chest harness...worked well until a big forward went wrong and landed flat on my back, with the bladder between me and the water...it burst pretty quick.
