I got some hand me down equipment after taking some windsurfing lessons. I've got everything except a mast.
I've got 2 sails and when reading the bottom panel, 1 sail is 4.63m and the other is 4.75 along the luff. Both need a mast with an MCS of 25.
What is a suitable length mast to get for either of these? Will a 460 do for the smaller sail? Do I need to go to something larger than 460 because the smallest needs 463cm? Can I use a 460 and then use a mast extension when I want to use the larger sail?
thanks.
A 460 mast with extension should do both sails.
Once you have got all your gear, head down to where other windsurfers are sailing and I am sure someone will show you how to rig them correctly.
A 460 mast or...
if on a budget maybe a 430 with a extra long extension? you could use then use the same mast (430) to rig 5-6m sails as well? May not give optimal performance of your bigger sails though but could work.
460 low carbon will suit a learner no worries.Plus 3 & 15 cm extension.
Your local windsurfers should show you how to rig I guess, judging by my experience.
Sometimes the sailmaker will give the info on what size mast to use on a specific sail.
Try going to the manufacturer's website and see what they say.
I know Ezzy sails do that for all their sails backdated.
