I’m going to Thailand in two weeks; I’m going to Phuket (Patong), Phi Phi Island and Krabi.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience/recommendations on where to rent gear, if there are any windsurfing schools and where the best place is to windsurf in flat(ish) water. I want to do a bit while I’m over there, since the girlfriend is very keen to try windsurfing and even have lessons, so that’s a MASSIVE bonus

Thanks

Hi Jez,
i was there last year and had every intention of sailing but got caught up doing up other things. There is a guy called Patrick who owns from what I can tell the only shop hiring gear out. www.phuketwindsurfing.com I emailed him and got replies about pricing etc and he was really helpful. He will bring the gear to you if you want for a small fee. Looked like a great spot to do it, warm and clean water. Have a ball mate

Thanks Andrew this looks like what i'm after, might drop Patrick an e-mail and get some more detail. Doesnt look like their are any other pro shops in that area, well that a online anyway, so this may be the best bet. Thanks again.

Cheers
Jez

Hey Jez

If you happen to stop by Bangkok for a few nights you can try drive to Pattaya. There are a few schools/windsurf gear hire places around there. Its quite a popular area to learn windsurfing.
