What makes a boom monocoque?

Hello all,

Like the subject states, what does monocoque mean when it comes to booms?

The main boom section is a one piece construction, all laid into the mould in one hit, as opposed to mechanically joined arms to boom head section (no bolts/rivets etc) or further lamination to join parts up.
