Heading over there, with harness, on Monday for a week and the forecast I've seen it looks light. Is this accurate for Anse Vata.
Any local knowledge on what it may be like, Sean?.......Paddo
Should be fine, except if you're a heavy guy like me (as rental sails don't go further than 6.4)
expecting average 16 monday and tuesday, could drop to 12/14 on wednesday. It's been pretty consistent for the last month, been sailing everyday.
Yesterday was awesome with 18/20 and high tide at ilot maitre :
Hi Sean,
I have been looking at the resort ilot maitre only a couple of days ago. (No wind in NSW this time of year) It looks great. Do you know if there is a kids club on the resort so I might actually be able to get on the water and what you think an average meal would cost on the Island. Also do you guys catch the ferry across or sail across in a group.
Thanks Dean.
Hi Dean,
We cross alone or in a group, it's only 6minutes. Always safer to have someone with you, in case you break your uni in the middle of the channel like I did recently... (and I was on my own..
)
Beginners catch the ferry and rig over there. It's the return tack that's a bit tricky with sometimes large waves coming from the side.
No windsurfing gear at all at the resort, I guess if you wanted to teach someone you'd have to hire gear and bring it on the ferry (could turn out expensive)
I would rather recommend taking the kids at the anse vata beach in the morning, all rentals have ultra large comfy boards and kids rigs. Aloha windsurfing are quite good at teaching and have a dinghy for safety.
Im' going to ilot maitre there for two nights in a couple of weeks with my GF, can't wait to be in the bungalow over the water, I think the buffet meal is around 60$.
Hi Sean,
Thanks Mate. I was thinking of bringing my own gear. Say a patrick 115 and a 7.8 and 7.0 (I'm 90kg) I sail with Nigel a bit and about the same ability but about 2 knots slower for some unknown reason.
If you get a chance when you are over there, could you see if there is a kids club for my 5 and 7 year olds. We haven't been able to find much info on the net about it.
Have fun in the over the water bungalow, they look fantastic. Well priced as well. The kids would absolutely love that, as would I.
Merci.
