An old Local Motion wave fin in G10, onshore shape and really thick draft with no tip flex. Nobody makes a fin like that anymore but it is still just the right thing for certain conditions and a heavy rider.

Probably 15yrs old

Awesome.... I got a red thumb for that. So somebody reckons it is not the oldest bit if gear I own.
Sweet, a real stalker who is going thru my stuff!

I'm honoured.

haha reductionism at its best.

Let me try..

The carbon in my mast was fused in long dead stars, so it's probably 10 billion years old by now.

I dont use the word "kit". It sounds wrong. Ok for first aid kit and tool kit and pack up your troubles in your old kit bag, but, I prefer to call my windsurfing stuff, "gear"...(or stuff it would seem)..my oldest bit of gear would be my Maui Project wave board..

Well said Richie, x2 for that.

The word "kit" sounds wanky and Pommy to me because it reminds me of when I first heard it used in Boards Magazine yonks ago.

Stuff and Gear for me too.

I bought my rig in 1987 (second hand) had it ever since, although I did not use it between 1990 and 1997 then again not between 1999 and 2006.

But since 2006 I have used it regularly, although due to wear and tear I have had the replace various bit over time i am not sure exactly but think I have replaced the sail 3 or 4 times, the mast twice and the boom 4 times, while the extension and UJ have only been replaced once..Oh sorry maybe twice. Thats the great thing about quality kit, if you maintain it properly it will last forever.

+1. Gear is what most of the world calls it, but Poms say "kit"

usually followed by "innit"

"you got new kit this year, innit"

I ran out of space for the title and had to use the shortest word available...

Right on! I also like to call it "equipment" sometimes...not sure why. Makes it sound a bt more important, maybe. Not that there are many things in this world as important as windsurfing stuff, mind you..

(most of my Singaporean friends say "gears" or "equipents", which still to this day makes me cringe...even worse, some refer to their windsurfing "stuffs"...and this is an English-speaking country! Ouch!)
