Hey again everyone

Went to the hospital today for my last appointment before i headed off to Melbourne for the surgery. As we walked in they were on the phone the the Melbourne womens and childrens hospital who told them not to send us over because there were not enough beds to accomidate and now it's in a months time. Not much of a warning!!!!!

Anyway so parents had contracts for their jobs, that has to be rearranged. Mine and sisters school have to be told. All family that were flying there to see me and have booked flights have to be told. And worst of all i switched of the power off school work about two weeks ago because i thought i was going away. Now i got a HEAP of work that i havn't done that teachers will want me to do this week aswell which is crap.

So it's kinda screwed us around a lot and i really just wanted to get it done becasue it's making me hell tired lol. When they told my mum and i, i was so angry it's not funny. And worst of all they have beds over there that are empty becasue they cant get enough funding to use them.

Anyway so i'll be around for another month now but don't think i will get to sail, i'll do my best to get one in though.

Cheers

Write a letter to Kevin Rudd. I just read he was boasting about what the ALP has done in its first 100 days of office. Your predicament makes Australia look like a third world country. Is that what the KRudd wants?

Send the same letter to you the Adelaide Advertiser. There are two questions you could ask. First, why is it necessary for you to have the operation in Melbourne. Second why does the Victorian ALP government believe its more important to spend money on car races than hospital beds?

At the same time, what is the SA government spending its money on? Obviously they don't spend enough on cardiology.

As long as it gets done and you can get back to sailing
One month isnt a long time in the overall scheme of things. I am sure you will be back tearing up the water in no time

Well i don't know the whole story and can't say that many people would. However all i know is that when i was first born i took up a bed in ICU for 9 months or more. Thats why i have missed out becasue there are babies that ergently need surgery and can't live without it. I would hate to think the amount of guys like me i held up when i was in there for 9 months so i suppose you got to live with it and it's out of most people control.

However it does annoy me about the beds thing. It seems to me that it should'nt happen but theres not much you can do about it. As far as not being able to do it in adelaide, i'm not exactly sure about the availability of surgans like that for one, and the other states in AUS also head to melbourne for it so its not just an SA issue.

Got to live with it though. There must be a prity sick kid over there who needs it more than me. Even though i don't remember my parents said that it aint great having a sick child and theres clearly someone who needs it ergantly.

Cheer up Bubs ,after talking to you at the KA series I'm impressed by your determination to get out and enjoy life.
Some things can be changed in life and other things can't ,but one thing that does change is the Federal government from time to time and unfortunately it does'nt seem to matter who is in ,when they get in they love to get the razor out and people suffer from their lack of insight and lies. Lets hope they get their act together on health care so more can enjoy their lives more fully like you do.

Sucks i am sure. However as said before a month is not long in the scheme of things.
Plus might not be a Gov't thing might just be a lack of available cardiac specialists.

Stopped Geao last year how about history lol. Got an essay on the causes of world war one lol. Maths i've missed about 6 pages of work which is no good. English got 2 assignments. Science i got another assignment + prac writ up. Finally music i got homework exercises and an assignment, but i prob won't do them becasue it's not a real subject.

I won't do all of it ovcourse, my teachers have been really good to me so i'll get through another month. My parents, brother and sister all prity much cover the work to. Mum and Alex are awsome at history english stuff, aswell and my sister being in yr 12 and helpful with most subjects. And dads a maths teacher so his awsome at maths and science, which is just a branch of maths anyway.

Hopefully i will get enough time to go for a sail. Got two new sails to replace my one i broke at Milang and just about to go rig them on the tennis court. Busting to take either of them out for a go. Got a 6.6 and 7.8 KA kontrol, 2005 model.

Yeah we were told it was a lack of beds issue. Theres surgans there ready to go and do durgery. Quite a few kids from all over Australia have had to be delayed which is no good. You'll never know exactly whats going on so theres nothing you can do about it. Just wait the month and get it done.

In saying that a month has actually been quite long. Obviousily because i been needing the surgery for quite a while now, it makes me incrediably tired very fast. So all i want to do is sleep prity much. Also my exercise output is terrible, jogging 20m makes me puff and it doesn't take much longer for lactic to build up. So it's been a prity long 5 weeks at school and another 4 will be hard work. But it has to be done and theres clearly someone who needs it much more than i do. So you work around them.

Cheers

Sounds like you won't know yourself once you recover from the surgery. You will have the will power to overcome physical barriers that no longer exist. So when others are hitting their limits, you will not even be approaching your limit.

You have a very generous nature, saying someone else needs the bed more than yourself. Good on you and good luck.

Hey Guys.

The reason that people are mainly sent to Melbourne is They have on of the best cardiology units there. Much like Royal Adelaide Hospital has the best burns unit in Australia. This is why a lot of people from 2002 Bali bombings where brought here for treatment.
