Wondering what weed fins to get for AtomIQ 114 and Patrik Fride 135 for use at Safety Bay, WA.
Sails: Gaastra Pilot 7.5, Severne Gator 6.5, Blade 5.7.
My weight: 80kg.
Typical winds: 15-25kt.
Have been looking online at Black Project (including the unusual FreeDelta RE), Select Power Delta, Lessacher Duo Cut Weed, and Vector Slalom Weed, and others.
Quite like the idea of the FreeDelta RE to accommodate shallow water as well as shedding weed but concerned about possible lack of lift. Anyone tried one?
Any suggestions/recommendations?
Hi mate, I have been sailing in this area for 8+ years IMHO
Jp, Choco and flying objects weedster G10 weed fins are all fantastic however they are all a little slow but never a weed problem. Vectors and others with a more upright semi weed shedding rake angle unfortunately still catches our ribbon weed occasionally whilst not planning which can be annoying. Chris Lockwood (tribal fins) has recently included a super weed in his selections which could be worth a look aswell. Hope this helps ![]()

I've got a full set of Maui Fin Co (MFC) weedburners that I find great as well.
I sail at pinaroo which is quite weedy and use the 40 cm and 34cm weed fins.
the 34 is a 45deg fin but my 40 is only 40deg rake. Unless the weed is like a brown sea blanket I don't have any problems with it.
I've used it at safety bay without any probs catching weed.
the 34cm in a 60-65cm wide board is one of the best weed fins I've ever had. Better than my leading edge weed fins I think.
Have used a leesacher full carbon as well and that was beyond description(great).
36cm fin that pointed as high up wind as a pointer fin with a 7.8m sail. And no matter how hard you pushed on it, it would not spin out.
Great fins, but you need to probably buy a few and get them sent from Germany to make the purchase worth it.
The Black Project Weed Speeds in G10 work very well and are good value. The 42, 38 and 34 should cover your sails and boards.
