Noticed the kiters have many technique etc threads, but we are don't

To minimise repeat posts and give a quick reference quide to important stuff, we need some

There are many good tips on the web/vids/threads, but having them catalogued in articles would be good

We need to put together some basic articles on what and what not to do for:

- learners first attempts
- kit
- wind
- safety
- shops
- what gear rigs well with what
- measurements
- tricks
- what to do in the waves

Any other topic ideas

Who will write them?

I'm happy to help, but in a couple of weeks when uni has died down, on a windless day and i've only ws for a year so everyone knows more

Good idea or bad idea, lets flesh some of the ideas out here

dism,
Good idea - if Laurie could let someone (a few people maybe cause it would be a big job) to go back through thread archives and collate similar threads into a concisive article per topic strand. Of course you would have to cull out all the smart ar$e responses and thread deviations. Another way would be to have the topic list with links to all the relating threads - this would be a lot simplier to set up.

Laurie is keen to get more windsurfing articles. There are only three on this site.

yeah didn't think about the article with links sausage, that'd be heaps quicker

But do we want newbies (and ourselves) to have to guess sarcasm and navigate the bull?

yeah was thinking this may be good, as it's taken me plenty of research on plenty of sites and endless reading of old threads to get a good grasp on this sport (and i already had a headstart from sailing and surfing), i'd hate to be a newbie without any other water experience, that'd be really jumping in the deep end

Possibly a wiki format where anyone can contribute their ideas but those contributions can be changed would work the best.

Having wikis on equipment, technique, fitness, locations and vehicles are some ideas that may work.

I like this idea dism and Mobydisc! I'd love to have a topic on fins for instance... there's heaps of different topics with bits of info, it'd be great to have it all in one location and a wiki sounds like a great idea. I'd also love to see a tuning topic - mast foot position, strap position, downhaul, outhaul etc.
I know there is a sticky "Ask the speed guru" which I guess was an attempt to gather the info in one place but it does get a little lost in the chatter. Vote one for wiki! Happy to lend a hand.
