How good was Wanda on Saturday? Excellent waves and enough wind to get planning - and it was perfect timing as I got my new wave board delivered on Friday and got it wet on Saturday.
The board rips, unfortunately too well and took we into a section that i shouldn't have been in. One broken RDM and a long walk home...
The lads were ripping it up.
Defo worth the the 45km drive to get there.
I agree Crash..!
I had no idea the swell was (much) bigger than the weekend before and happily with more wind..!
Did a lot of swimming for my rig..got SMASHED by a few large waves (and a nasty small one..!) but on the bright side made a few too..and was happy to come out of the white-water intact.
MrJon landed a HUGE aerial too..
I noticed a photographer.. any chance of posting a few piccies to show some visual proof? As most locals weren't there we'll need to prove it..
I saw you get smashed by one wave, we all winced in the carpark!
Came out ok though, and John was ripping it all.
Where were the likely lads?
Hah..!
Glad to hear you were giving some "what not to do" lessons to the FlyingFish students.
It wasn't a really deep sandbank either..maybe 5 feet deep..My RDM Powerex (shameless plug) supported the board which was 15 feet in the air.. when the tip was stuck in the bank.. I just watched thinking it would snap..then tried to pull it out madly.. ![]()
Heard Evo100 litre went to Gerroa and ripped .. all the rest I think were working..
[I was fully snaked at Scarbs by the same kiter for a second time, so put my foot down and with his lines bent around my mast I beared off and dragged him off his board kicking and screaming, made my day. If your've got right of way, take it or they'll try it again, hard luvin is good luvin] thanks NoOne for this beaut quote..
you luck bastards! I saw dave number come up on my phone all mornin and I knew exactly what hewas ringin for, so I couldnt bring myself to answer it. Good to hear it was goin off though.
Hopefully this is my last month of 7 days a week work so I can get down the beach again! Think I need a month or 2 off haha![]()
Unfortunately Westfield shopping town was not "going off" - unless you count slaloming through the Xmas shoppers.
Glad to hear everyone got some - either Wanda or Georra. I've sailed Makaha few times but without waves it gets boring! But Newport reef has almost worked a few times in the last week. There was one glorious hour today between 3pm-4pm when the swell lined up and the wind swung SE.
I'm thinking about Georra this Wed or Thurs - any thoughts on the wind/swell?
cheers
The forcast looked good for Wanda but I didn't have faith in the wind coming through, so I went to Gerroa. Some nice Gerroa style waves, (ie: long clean walls but just lacking that bit of grunt that Wanda has). I will be heading down on Wednesday and/orThursday if it is not too stormy looking.
Tim
Let me know when you're heading to Newport Reef/Makaha as I haven't sailed either spots and could do with a few pointers.
Tried to get out yesterday for some freestlye at Fairlight later on in the day, but couldn't even get off the beach! Rigged up my sail with a NDM 40% mast and it felt like a bag of spanners. Luckily the new RDM arrives today ![]()
Whereas i did manage to get out off Fairlight for a classic 20 knot sou'easter blast (albeit on a bigger board)! It was good to see Lacey out on his old Techno & 7m combo and he was giving me a master classi
With it so light on the inside, once youre out you have to stay out for a few hours but thats not so bad now is it!
I'll never tire of waving to all those sad faces on the ferry and jet cat, returning from a hard days work.........
At this point the only thing worth wishing for Christmas is some wind!
Had a nice session at Toowoon Bay yesterday.
Sweet![]()
Hey whyner are you goin to Tassie for the nationals?
I cant go cause the missus has her brothers wedding on that weekend.![]()
