Hi all,
i've been staying at Lake Macquarie for a few days but there just hasn't been much wind. I'm thinking of heading north to Wallis lake today as the north-easter is forecast to be stronger up there. It's a decent sized lake so I'm assuming it's deep enough to foil in. Is that right? Any tips for a launching spot?
Thanks, Greg

I'd give Jimmy's beach a go,

Big lake but shallow and weedy. Depth varies quickly. There are some good channels but getting to them would be a problem.

Thanks for getting back to me. I haven't sailed in the ocean yet. Are there any other waterways around that are good for NE? Am heading North.

NE will be offshore at Jimmy's Beach. How about Nelson's Bay? Deep? Good access?

I have a house booked in october up on green point, just across from yahoo island. After consulting the nav chart www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/maritime/usingwaterways/maps/boating-maps/6b-wallis-smiths-coolongolook-wallingat.pdf
I'll be taking some foil gear but I have a feeling I'll be windsurfing. But that's fine. Plenty of good north easterlies up there.

There is a fairly big area in front of the sailing club deep enough just watch either side sand bank one way and weed bank the other.

Thanks for all the info. I had a look around. Very crowded on Easter Sunday with lots of boat traffic but a nice wide waterway. The wind didn't eventuate so I continued north and I'm staying the night at Nambucca heads. I don't think it'll be much good in the river here as it's fairly narrow and trees on the south eastern side would cause rotor

sometime my weed fins aren't even good enough to get rid of the weed there, foiling would be a nightmare.

Where do you access these PDF charts?

The best spot for NE is off bootie point about 10 minutes south of green point, but you need some sort of 4x4 to get down to the water now.
