Check out Peter Bilj just holding it together as he heads for the finish in 30 knots of breeze and insane Kanaha chop;

I must have been standing next to Jeff as he was filming that footage!

KP sailed in this event with all borrowed gear!

Yeah, for anyone interested in learning how to sail fast in strong wind and rough water, it makes pretty good viewing.

What size were you on that days Divaldo?

Good to see even the pros have trouble gybing sometimes.

Maui was super gusty this year,

I sailed mainly 5.2 and 4.7 for the three weeks, as it was gusty, I tended to always find the not so windy bits when it was like this!

couple of days prior to this event it was consistant 30 knots, gusting to 45 throughout the day.....

Watching this sort of racing really gives you an appreciation of how quick these guys go...also how well organised the racing is, it runs very well.....

Bit of agro on the beach this day as well, Matt from Hanzawa's a Naish sailor in the semi pro division lost it when one of the guys in his race went in the wrong heat, throwing confusion into the group, this racing is taken very seriously!

I just loved it how Phil Mcgain , Micah and KP raced their heats, crossed the finish line, parked their gear on the beach, strolled up, sat on their deck chairs and continued their conversations as though nothing had happened! They are all legends......

Peter Bjil won the event? I though KP did? hmmmmmm

Looks like Peter Bilj won the pro division, though Kevin may have won his age division;

Pretty hot competition over there with those two guys, Phil McGain, Micah and others battling it out - and it's windy as hell.

It's both disappointing and bizarre that the PWA tour no longer pays a visit to the Mecca of our sport.
