Well since everyone is posting their vids on here i though i would do the same.
That looked pretty good, keep em coming! The last sequence looked harsh, that rig was getting hammered!
Wow, that looks pretty hard core. Day one reminded me of the Danish west coast, klitmoeller and places like that.
Second day... gee - that looked like wave sailing for men. Was there a channel or something or do need to negotiate your way out through mast high surf?
When is the next ferry to tassie from sydney?
it's a reef in the middle of a big rock bay. kind of. so you don't have to sail out over anything.
Sailing on the north coast of tassie on really windy days makes me think of the vids you see of europe, it's pretty much just wind swell on the North coast..

How oftern is it windy down there and when is the best season for wind? Is there a "windsurfer's guide to tassie" you can recommend?
We are looking fwd to more pics and vids to help us survive the current wind drought in Sydney!

Looks like an ideal spot. I tad cold I would image though.
It's windy all the time down here. this month has been not quite so windy with only say 3 days a week on the water but some days we skiped cause it was just too onshore ( this is on the west coast of TAS) Winter i am told gets super windy. ( i haven't been through a winter here)
I have been here since November and up untill i broke my wrist at the start of February i sailed 5 days a week some times more. from april to now i have sailed a little less but still managed 3-4 days a week.
And nearly everyday wavesailing i think i only went for a cruise twice.
The wind now (may) is coming at funny directions on the west coast being mainly W-NW so onshore at most spots around Marrawah right now. I'm told this is typical May.
The swell is pretty good though it's been over 4m for a week now so we still get some down the line at back of lighthouse and temma (temma on a NW) Lighthouse only seems to work on a 4+m swell and temma needs 5.
Summer is awesome down here. esspically Jan and Feb. so nice and warm, with a sea breeze most days in a cross off direction.
I spent a couple of month at lowhead on the north coast a couple of years ago and it gets really windy there too. but it's mostly just wind swell which is awesome for jumping but DTL is pretty much non existant.
East coast is really beautifull but the wind can be fickle and big swell rare..
I don't know of any guide to tassie; and thats the stuff i konw.

That places tassie well and truly high up on my "must do" list.
mmmm not really sure. there are a lot of people into slalom, i don't really follow that but i hear they get like 30 40 people show up to races. there are a fair few crew in hobart that wavesail, and a bunch around the tamar on the north coast.
and 2 active sailors at marrawah.
but you come across people windsurfing all over the place really.
so it's not huge but it's a good community because tassie is a small place.
That was awsome, went to tassie once blew the whole bloody time and didnt have the gear. IT looks great but what are the temeratures like down there.

So how do you cope with the cold? I have one of Lars Peterson's dvds. "Free your soul" or something like that. It starts with him emerging from the ice like a seal with a big grin on his face. I just can't imagine enjoying that. Can you stay comfortable. Don't your hands freeze. Don't you get ice cream headaches?

The temp is ok. the water is fine its about the same temperature as the water in Margaret River. and on the north coast a little warmer.
I don't wear a dry suit and i don't know anyone who does. i got a 4/2 with welded seams for the cold days and a piece of crap 2mm short arm that i wore in summer.
It gets cold now if you stand on the beach, but if you just keep sailing i don't even notice the cold. no cold headaches, and no frozen hands. how ever when i got here in November we sailed early some mornings and that was pretty cold, i got sore hands then. and once my face went numb and i couldn't speak properly.
But it's not as cold as you think.
Coldness is only relative to how tough you are, and we're bred tough down here. Yes NotWal, isn't she a sweet little cutie pie. (said toughly!)
