Guy's wearing a harness, but doesn't seem to have any lines to hook into. Surely hanging on like that would be very tiring very quickly (but windsurfing started out the same way, so it don't mean much...).

There's also a mast base plate attached to the board... Anyone else notice the leggie?
I get the feeling that this was a bit of a one-off and he spent the rest of the day sailing with a more conventional rig.
Foiling with what looks like a 4m^2 inflatable wing (thingy?) in <15kts (no whitecaps?). Sure it looks retarded, but from an efficiency point of view it seems impressive.
Not wanting to be seen as cynical...I noticed the guy is not even in his foot straps. How is it possible to be going fast enough for the board to ride on its hydrofoil ?
Kiters might even get it to the olympics.....
Needs more downhaul.

There's always someone who has to say it, LOL.
More to the point. Since when did Slingshot start making sailboards (as said before, why the need leg for a rope?).
i think if it were really windy and you dropped the sail/kite it would tumble downwind like the proverbial beach umbrella. Then if you are separated from your board after the crash you face a long swim in.
Slingshot based at the Gorge, Hood River.
80s wind weapon was a 'hit??' out of the Gorge. None the less it kinda worked there
Slingshot make kites, would suggest they know their stuff.
The crew still windsurf at the Gorge
foiling starting to push into kites & Wsurfing but compared to yachting+Americas Cup, in it's infancy
pull all this together & I reckon that's what we are looking at; a bunch of industry waterman working towards what might be the next big thing. Or just having fun with stuff lying around after a brain storming session. Success is 99% failure & failing can be a lot of fun. Certainly would have been a lot of talk at the bar that night... more brain storming maybe.
Foiling will be big & come in many forms. My view of foiling changed when I saw these beasts in the flesh a few years ago

Do you mean the photo shop Olympics!
