Hi all, looking for help/advice if anyone has a successful technique to loosen and remove Thruster screws that seem to have welded themselves into the board? Note tried looking in the forum for this but couldn't find anything
Thanks
Yes
or slot box or US.?
do not drill yet it is all I can say
its gonna wander without great care
so far tons of vinegar to dissolve salt n corrosion, then correct sized tool
Thanks for the responses. The fins are 11cm slot box with Philips head screws. I will try the vinegar idea and then as much brute strength as my non-gym feebleness can extol. Trying to drill them out is not an something I would dare try. Please provide any other ideas.
Hit it axially. Place the PH3 and -sensibly- hit it with a (rubber) hammer
This may very well expedite "breaking the seal" along the thread.
Subjecting the offending screws to the Chuck Norris stare also recommended.
I had almost the same issue earlier this year on a jp thruster quad I bought.
Both Tuttle thruster screws were stuck.
They finally came out after many cycles of vinegar then gentle tap with a rubber hammer on my ph3 screwdriver then firm twist test with massive pressure on top of the screwdriver, then shack of the fin then removal of the vinegar and injection of wd40, and so and so on.
Enventually one screw came out properly and the other broke after it started to twist.
^^ Yes to all above and a #3 driver - they are small but have the fatter head which seems backwards but they are PH3 and it usually enables more torque
They will come out
Thanks again for all the advice everyone. I'll post an update after I've tried the vinegar and ph3 application
