If you haven't heard yet, it's true. This famous 21km ocean race from Ledge Point to Lancelin is being ressurected and registration is still open if you want to be part of this great event.

The race is going back to its roots and will be part of the new Patrik Lancelin Wind Festival, running from 18-21Jan'23, and is being organised by Windsurfing WA and the Lancelin Community Resource Centre, with race event management by Patrik Windsurf.

The festival itself will include heaps of on and off water activities for all ages including:
- New marathon course with a gybe mark close to spectators
- Wave Comps (Windsurf and Winging)
- Windsurfing and Winging Racing
- Techno racing
- Windsurfing clinics
- Windsurf, Wing and SUP demos & try out sessions
- Fireworks, Live Music and Parties

There is still time to register but get in now. Registration will close a week before the race.

That's Awesome ! I knew it would come back. Revamped course, will that make it shorter in distance?.

Hi Subsonic, Patrik told me on Monday as far as he was aware it was 21 km. Is 40 km accurate ? Perhaps he said or meant nautical miles. The original poster upoz said 21 km. What is the correct length ? Cheers R

Hi Richard, all I can say is hearing it from Patrik is a much more reliable source than me. Where I had heard it was from people I know on the committee. But Patrik knows the course he's setting better than anyone. Maybe the plan has changed since I heard what I heard, or I mis heard.

I spoke to Patrik about this at the Swan River Festival Of Windsurfing and he said the 40 kms length is a mistake. He said the new course is only 1 km longer than the old course.

Have checked in with Patrik who has designed the course and his word is 21kms. This year the second marker will be only be 100m north of the start line which will mean spectators will be able to easily see who is in the lead and watch you rounding the mark. This makes it a little longer than in the past but not too much. It will still be a distance anyone can give a go.

I have entered the daggerboard division, with forecast looking great for that category. Where is the "who is going" button ? Can you please make it available ? Thanks a million.

Dont blame you berowne for wanting to come to a diff state for an event like this,
The event was amazing and everyone had a lot of fun (even tho the weather was against us) we still got alot of racing in!
Patrik organised it really well!
(just my 5c opinion)
I shall try and find out the dates and let you know!

I don't want to speak too far out of turn as i'm not actually on the committee. But i can tell you it is at this stage still up in the air as to whether it will happen or not.

thats all i can say. Im sure someone on the committee will say more when there is more to say.
