Yesterday was one of those days that clearly defined the attraction of the sport and precisely highlighted what maintains the 'drive' (for me at least)
6 guys out at a down the line WA wave spot, plenty of hooting, grinning and laughing going on as one and all pushed themselves and their equipment within their own level and ability.
No agro, no show boating, no one up-manship... just 6 guys getting wave after wave after wave interspersed with the occasional big jump, back loop and pushie.
The buzz you get from a day or a session like this is what provides the 'power' to get out there and do it all again... it's what makes you zone out when people are talking to you if the wind starts to blow.
It's the attraction to do what we do
The 'passion' is clearly visible in the people you meet or share a session like this with.
Often strangers at the start... but at the end (as was the case yesterday) the ear splitting grins and energy is all encompassing.
A beer and a laugh while de-rigging only adds to it...
Hope there's wind and waves heading to a beach near you

aahhhhhhhh the serenity.
I'll remember that sesh, for a long time. Still got the grin.
Good to meet up, Kev...
enjoy the rest of yer trip.
Adios
OK OK OK ! Yes I should have gone with you guys, talk about rubbing salt into the wound with your bloody sms's, personal emails and all these posts on the breeze about how good it was and what a great day!
Enough already ! You got lucky thats it! just lucky
and yes Greenroom I did finish my scarf.
Couldn't agree more, Kev. Although we were very surprised that someone else showed up to our "secret spot" ![]()
You can understand our amazement when you said you haven't sailed there since 1991 ![]()
Highlight for me was watching your one handed backy 5m in front of me. Belated round of applause!
Hi Leech
Yep believe it or not but your secret spot was one of the very first spots where we held what has now become an annual windsurfing trip for friends and family of WindWarrior.
We switched a few years later a little further up the coast to Gero which has become our annual pilgrimage.. all the lads are pretty hyped this year for the tour which kicks off in a few weeks !
Have to appologise for cranking out that one hander right in front of you... had I known you were there I certainly wouldn't have gone for it.
If there was a way to download the picture from your minds eye it would be worth a look
Kev
I can't believe how much you guys are talking up this session...
... I only managed to go out on my 4.7 (rather than my fav 4.2 sail) and my best wave was only a bit over head high and I think I only managed to get in 5 bottom turns on that one...
... so I don't know what you are raving about...

yeah it was totally sh!thouse........
and what was all that whoooping about, instead of a sailboard jumping;..... I was expecting to see Bo and Luke in the General Lee flying through the air followed closely by Rosco PeeeeeeeeeKooo Train; stacking it into the reef.
still grinnin ![]()
