Hello wind driven Speed racers!
being the 30th LOC i thought it timely that this be released into the wild.
A video production peer of mine, Jeremy Ashton (gun sound man extraordinaire), shared this production with me that he made back in 86.
F16 - Wild Water , White light!
He spent a fortune on helicopters and production time to make this doco. I guarantee it will take you back in time!
I have done a quick re edit (cutting hard into the content) to cater for the modern attention deficit disorder condition
I was wondering if you'd faked it with effects and filters when I saw Ben Newson at 01:12 - 01:13 ish ![]()

Hey Matt,
I hope you paid the filmmaker some VHS royalities due.
That doco has been floating around for the past 28 years, a bit like Nicole Kidmans perm in the same era 'Windrider' flick.
For the record the film is about the 1987 RACE.
Dave Sheen won the L to L race in 1986.
Phil McGain won the L to L race in 1987. Phil looks a few years younger here.
I spoke to him about it on a windsurfing holiday on Maui in 1989, he has never once been back, always too f*king hot that weekend.
That has never changed.
The course was also different then (and up until around 1997), there were more crayboat markers and hence more windward and leeward legs making for better reaching, rather than the "painfully" downwind course from 1998 onwards.
