Thumbs Up

Forgot my wetsuit today and went out anyway with a full length rashie on. About 20 C.

Hoping to not fall in but on my first or second gybe you guessed it.

Things went downhill fast from there.

Second gybe i fell in also and had to swim to shore as not enough wind to water start.

Then set off again upwind back to the carpark as i was cold by this time.

Was going good until i hit a big lull in the middle of the river and got stuck hooked into my harness.

Near 30 minutes passed trying to water start in horrible chop caused by the boats and i was exhausted.

Eventually got up and sailed to the other side of the river and fell in again on my gybe but luckily got up at first attempt.

Sailed back to the Melville side where my car was but still 1500 metres downwind .

Stupiditly tried to go out again and made it to perhaps 300 metre from the other side before attempting another gybe which was a disaster as i was more or less gone by this stage.

A boat with two Irish couples on board just happened to be passing by and was i happy to see them stop.

They took me back to the jetty at Majestic Point and another couple drove me back to my car.

Body and especially my legs and hands were shivering to a pretty scary degree.

Still in bed with a electric blanket on.

Never attempt to sail if you forget your wetsuit unless its warm.

Gybing is nigh impossible past a certain point of hyperthermia.

By the way i found my wetsuit under another bit of equipment when i got back

My big sail - my 7m and 460 mast is going to be retired permanently after today.

Hate is not a strong enough word

Anyway, thanks again to those four on the boat for all your help and i still have one of your blankets in my car.
