Yeah
Taras
the wave classic...A great event
full of boulders, black sand, Kina (spiny sea urchins), rain, rain(did i say rain twice ), amazing range of green from the paddocks to the bush
but you can ski and surf all in the same day....and the surf can be pretty amazing
especially with snow capped Mt Egmont (oops Mt Taranaki) in the background.

oops ..am i getting homesick ?..........naaaaaa.....

^^^ mmm, kina! Probably the nicest and most addictive food. Some ab diving mates of mine started harvesting them commercially, and I helped process them, well I processed half and ate half.

Entries are open to everyone.

TWC is always held over NZ's Labour weekend - so next year it'll be the 23rd-25th of October. You could always come down a bit early and make the most of things before the hordes arrive.

This year, the day before competition and the day after were great - unfortunately the competition days didn't really fire, so getting here early is a good option if you want to guarantee some quality sailing.

Thanks 555- Its definitely on the agenda for after the conference - I'll watch the Taranaki website for entry details etc.

Can only bring 1 board and 2 sails -would a 92 twinnie and 4.7 and 5.4 be on the money?

Sounds like a pretty reasonable combo for the majority of what we get at this time of the year - unless we get a decent front come through in which case you'd be wishing you had something a bit smaller.

Often the various importers have demo boards there to try out, but I'm not sure if the offer is withdrawn over 30 knots!
