have you tried a little tape around your toe? I have whacked my toes on everything, mast base, footstraps, rocks etc. but never had your particular problem!
keep getting the wick of big toes pealed back in straps, and it's getting Soooo annoying.

What are u talking about ?
Whats a wick ?
OK googled it . Ingrown toenail .
Its a prick.
Had surgery at 15 for that . Now my big toenail falls off annually in autum and I'm now 50 or something and I can set my watch to it.
Got nothing to do do with windsurfing. Your unfortunately retarded. ![]()

Try living in Vic late winter ,
looking down at your front foot cos it feels weird while slogging
To notice your middle toes sticking straight up in an unhealthy way because their jammed unhealthy against the mast base and you can't feel the wrongness because there frozen.
Middle toes are for ****s anyway ![]()

I woulda thought its that cold in Vic that you wouldn't be able to feel anything, being so close to antarctica and all. Injure away![]()
Sometimes I forget to lift my foot high enough coming out of the rear strap before jibing.
I trip over the back strap and slide off the board. It adds a few style points to the maneuver.
It keeps me on my... toes.
However, I'm still confused as to how it happens in your case?
I did that to my index finger, folded the wick (cuticle) back under itself, slammed it against the leach of my sail during a duck gybe, it never healed properly. About six months later if formed a blister, a hard blister, very strange, I'd drain it and it would secrete a clear gel, even stranger. Went to my doc, he said you need to go to this guy, a hand specialist doc, and he said you've got a cyst, and that needs surgery to remove, they can form due to an injury to the cuticle,,,,,,,,, find deal.
Anyway had to have the surgery which meant he had to cut all the way back to the first joint in my finger next to the nail, that's where the cyst rooted to. He told me that that's typical to cuticle cysts, and that clear gel that was filling it was normal joint lubricant. Six stitches from the cuticle back the first joint, no windsurfing for about 3 weeks. That was about 5 years ago and that finger is still stiff at the last joint, screwed up my guitar playing, but everything else is okay.
Be careful with all 20 of your cuticles.
When my big toe nail came off a few years ago, I cut the thumb off a pair of xl surgical gloves and put it over the toe. Made it less painful in the straps.
Maybe be worth a try??

If it's a really big toe, instead of the glove use a condom

No, don't use condoms. (Tried that once to keep stitches dry after slashing my foot on an oyster shell.) Definitely don't use lubricated ones. They're not as durable as you'd think if they're used in less than congenial environments!
