Only 5 of us nut jobs out on the river today.

More wingdingers and no foilers.

Wind was mostly 15 knots then 25 plus with big steep rollers coming thru.

Did a few accidental jumps.

5m Patrik race sail with lots of downhaul, 87 Patrik slalom board and a very small and soft 30cm Vector EX fin was good in the gusts but still i rarely sheeted in fully in the gusts.

Bring on the seabreezes - these storm fronts are too difficult and cold to sail in.

TV for tomorrow i think.

Same here
If the forecast is correct for the post frontal SSW here it will be good. 9am in a SSW is not my fave.... lol
But if we actually get the swell.....

Aus 1111 - with the lack of sailing you have done in the last year me thinks your fitness is now such that you are restricted to going out in conditions limited to a max of 18knots

I went out today with my same gear but with another 8 to 10 mm of downhaul and i was able to sheet in during the gusts and also close the gap at the foot of my sail.

Lesson learnt - proper downhaul when there is strong wind!!!

Broke my old 400 SDM mast two feet below the boom after gybing and had to swim the 600m in.

Then had to borrow a hacksaw off a passerby to cut the mast to get the remaining piece out my sail.

No damage thankfully to my precious sail.

Going to try a 400 rdm in my 5m and will add lots of spacers.

Sailed on Saturday on the river in 10 knots with a few big gusts to 28 knots i guess.

5.6 was too big at times but then too small. 100 litre and Tribal 33 G10 fin.

Hanged on for dear life in the gusts

Slowboat on his 7m looked to be struggling in the gusts which made me feel a lot better.

So much for global warming - it was around 12C in the middle of the day.

Packed up by 5pm as it was simply too cold.

Wednesday looking like 5m weather.

By far the best conditions of winter so far on the river. Warmish with no rain.

Wind was much stronger than the graph shows.

15 to 27 knots but mostly averaging around 20 to 23 with pretty big chop and rollers coming through.

Had to add 10mm of extra downhaul to my 5.6 so i could sheet in and close the foot of my sail.

Slowboat was on his 7m, 82cm wide Mistral and 40 carbon fin and i heard he did a 39 knot peak.

He is not that fast upwind or across the wind but in the gusts off the wind i can confirm he is scary fast.

I was foiling in boardies a week ago, in Busso. I was presently surprised by the temp. Then froze in Bunno a few days later on a 4.5 sail.
