Hi,

I've recently purchased a Shadowbox GPS and need to attach it to my boards, it comes with some 3M mounting feet but I don't have too much confidence in how strong the glue would be.

The shadowbox comes with mounting feet as shown in the image:

I'm thinking of going for a more permanent attachment for the feet, so was wondering if I could araldite the feet to the board?

Would that damage the board? It's a JP freestyle board? Any other better glues?

Cheers,
Adam

Firstly let me say how jealous I am!

If the pads are anything like the ones for the gopro then you will not be able to remove them from the board as long as it has been cleaned properly before hand. I believe the 3m ones are very good.

Perhaps use a safety lanyard to the mast base?

They were developing a windsurfmount. Basically a plate which goes under your mast foot, with a flat piece sticking out the back to stick the shadow box on.

4 screws underneath to mount the shadowbox itself to the plate

Wouldn't be hard to make one yourself

PM me if you want to trace around the mount to make a copy, I'm in Sydney.

I cleaned my Gath helmut with an alcohol wipe and stuck two curved 3M GoPro mounts to the top and side but on my first outing the side one let go. Thankfully I had tied the camera to the helmet. That said I did knock the camera with the mast when flipping the sail on the shore so I guess this didn't help.

Yeah i cleaned the deck using alcohol wipes and even then the first time I tried it came loose, I've tried again and will leave it overnight to see if that helps:

Thats a good idea, was looking at the mounts, but it'd cost >$50 including shipping to get one sent here, it would be pretty straightforward to build one.

Thanks for the idea.

I don't think those pads will stick to deck grip very well. The plate under the mast foot seems like the best idea.
But if you want to use the pads, sand the deck grip off first, finish with a fine wet and dry to give maximum surface area for the pads to stick to.
