Hi. I want to start doing windsurf again after 20 years... I don't have any equipment now, so looking to but a board, sails, etc.
I saw an offer of a Starboard Carve 145 with 2 sails, mast, boom, etc. all in good condition for $ 1100.
This is an old board (2005), so I don't know if the price is ok, or if it is overpriced. I want something in that price range ($800 - $1200).
Does anyone know about this board? Does it worth that price? Or is it better to wait and buy a newer equipment?
Cheers.
Daniel
The package is at a very fair price and the carve is a good board for learning and progressing. I started planing, straps etc on a carve 133-2002 model. The 145 might be perfect for you or a bit too big if you are light and already at a good level. I would say it should be ok up to about 18-20 knots in flattish water. Check that there are no soft spots in the area between the straps.
Agreed but need to know what sails and mast to be assured of that value.
Also re: soft spots make sure you try the whole deck well, boards that size often get soft up near the mast track as beginners spend so long up that area...
Thanks guys. I'll check for soft spots, very good tip. And see if I can find something a little smaller, maybe 120l.
2005 gear ain't so old ,so if the board looks watertight and the sails look tough it should be fine.
Buy it.
Keep it. It's a classic.
When you get really good get a second board as you first short board. This should be your weight plus 40l
Hi Daniel.
I've just put my 2014 131 Carve up for sale on seabreeze. I'm a beginner going on intermediate and wish I started with this board size instead of anything larger. Its more than what you a looking to spend but thought I'd just let you know. Only selling it because I'm moving to the states :( .
PM me if you want.
Ginno.
