Fin? Wig? Have I been posting in my sleep again or another Mark? Don't worry Mikey I hear you about the lack of wind. The website was done more to have a crack at doing a web page with no knowledge of doing them at all.

Mental note never loan any gear to Gestalt.

And speaking of crab pots I'm gonna take a knife to them next time I sail at vicky point and there are some there... last time I sailed there I must have hit the one and only crab pot at least 5 times.

don't cut them, use cable ties, leave about 12" of free rope so that they hurt their backs pulling them

Cable tie them to the bottom? What do you cable tie them to? I'm very interested...

Came across a lobster pot at Shearwater last time I was there, normally you sail downwind of them 'cos then you don't hit the rope, but this time the current was so strong you had to sail on the wrong side... came this close -> <- to hitting the dam' rope before I realised

Well it's plastic bag season down here. I was the lucky one that didn't break any gear, but two other guys have gone through their sail this week after catching a submerged plastic bag around their fin.

Loop the rope near the surface in 12" dia loop and tie up as much rope as possible near to the float, the ideal length of rope left is where the float is directly above the pot.

We have an incredible amount of cray pots at our local some of which are right in the wave riding zone. This is an effective method for annoyingly long ropes (some 20+m of floating rope)

The other alternative is using weed fins just slide straight over them.
