Hello all,
i have recently acquired an old windsurfer. When I picked it up I was told it was missing the piece that connects the mast to the board, should not be hard to find I thought, but sadly I was mistaken.
I know the brand is Winsurfer by sailboards Australia but that is about all I can find out. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for finding the part I am after. Thanks in advance.

Given the resurgence in old skool racing, windsurfer One Design bases are hard to find? But not impossible? One of the WOD guys will chime in soon enough - but for me I'd just find any way to adapt a modern base to it
You could even just bung some screws in the sides of the hole so resin has something to key to, then glue a shortened modern mast track in with a ****load of resin
You have picked up a older style Raceboard. I have a old Tiga with th e same problem the bases never stayed on in certain manouvers.l ended up taking the old slide insert out & replacing it with a modern one .it was a little bit smaller but it worked.looking at your board it could be done.good luck with it.![]()
It's strange sometimes the way of thinking.
Instead of having a easy solid connection , they thought of having an additional tethering point to stop the sail floating away when the sail will disconnect from the board. At this point of development they should have called in an engineer ![]()
The centre of your lawn does appear green and lush but I do see you have problems along the fence line. You could try aerating with a fork and fertilising. If you don't get enough sun on that spot you may want to just pave that small strip.
from my blog ... does look like you can custom make one easily , but make it take modern mast bases
like Mark says - make the portion in the board permanent ...
Joe's image is correct, you are more likely to find a black plastic one than a timber one like that though.
As I understand it, yours is an Original Windsurfer and not a One Design. The One Designs have a retractable center board and a different mast base. Might save some confusion while searching.
If you do want the original piece, I have found a good source for these parts in the recycling shop at your local tip, if it has one. If it is just for something to have a bit of fun on, just do as Mark said and screw and seal a more modern base on. Would be more reliable anyway. The old ones tended to either come out when sailing or not when you were finished. Never the happy medium.
Have fun.

Where are you located?
Hi, I've got the complete unit, is currently advertised on seabreeze. Sorry not free, need to make a living out of my hobby! No job at the moment. It's a free ad, so you may need to scroll through a bit as it doesn't have a photo. Windsurfer mast step. Cheers, Al
Just a note regarding the upper part that sleeves in to the mast (see fjdoug's photo)- the One Design mast base is larger than a standard diameter mast (48mm vs 46mm from memory). If you haven't got One Design mast, or if you don't need one, you may be better off with a generic SDM extension, as it will fit in 99% of standard diameter masts.

Thank you everyone for your help, and due to the very generous help from a member I hopefully will be up and sailing by the weekend. Again thank you for all your comments and input.
I also have a similar board with a similar mast connection but the same part is missing, does anyone else have one that I could have? Also where can I get the removable fin for this one
