Only done it one time. Off shore and gusty. But ok if you dn't mind if a bit up and down. Can sail from the beach near the gaol to the town, most clean air in the middle. Others might have more to offer experience wise. Beautiful spot.

Don't think Phil is still windsurfing but if you look up some of his topics will give you an idea. It's not the best direction as very gusty and basically offshore for the place so make sure you know what you are doing otherwise I've had some awesome runs from the goal to the town in somewhat flat conditions before so enjoy.

So long it has a smidge of west in it then under the gaol is fine. Likely to be gusty, but perfectly sailable. If you stay in the corner it blows you back into the point. If you head out beyond the end of the point and something goes wrong then next stop New Caledonia.

If it has a smidge of east in it then there is a big hill that blocks the wind and makes it horrible / unsailable.

From SSE to ENE it ain't very good - big shadow, gusty and direction swings about a lot.

A bit of west in the southerly or bit of north in the easterly and it is fine.

But - I only really sail there in big winds in the winter when everywhere else is too offshore or maxed out. Maybe a lighter breeze from the south won't amplify the wind shadow or gustiness as much ??

If it is too south east for the gaol could maybe try further north, the sand banks at the mouth of the Macleay river have some interesting looking potential.

Thanks for the info people. I figured gusty because of Smoky. Hopefully flat water though.
Thanks again
