Aren't there some islands that are windy and don't attract crowds in the South Pacific?

Plenty of kiting action here judging by all the ads I see. Supposedly the most beautiful lagoon in the world too.

Where are the windsurfing destinations??? I am only familiar with one place in Fiji that has windsurf gear for hire, Safari Lodge.

But what I don't know about windsurfing holiday destinations near Australia could fill an internet thread.

How about WA?

evlPanda Kiters have a travel advantage over windsurfers. That doesn't mean that you can't transport your equipment somewhere, it's just harder. Now, how about French Polynesia?

French Polynesia is an awesome place to sail.
The lagoon on Bora Bora is just paradise. The islands get the trades and there is a healthy windsurfing scene. Some spots on Moorea are good but the currents when the tides are changing can be scary. Huge amounts of water trying to get out of narrow passes in the reef can run at 8-9 knots.
Lots of guys sail off the shore near Faaa airport on the main island (Tahiti) and do runs out to the reef. Ive heard of guys doing the Sea of the Moon channel crossing between Papeete and Moorea (11 miles).
There is a NP/JP importer and a Maui sails importer in Papeete.
Pretty sure there isnt any hire facilities available but who knows.
Cheers.

Tahiti is indeed an awesome place.

For hiring gear, there is Mel (www.tematai.com) who's pretty much every day at the main spot in Tahiti, Mahina.

He is also an instructor and can manage a few nice tricks

This is the only spot in Tahiti where one can rent and get some lessons. This spot also called Motu Martin works in E, E/SE or E/NE so pretty much 90% of the time when the trave wind blows.

The other spot near the aiport, Faaa, only works in a Northely, pretty rare over there and launching is not as freindly.

Then all the islands get the trade winds so as long as the lagoon is deep enough there is a possibility of sailing! Bora is indeed a great spot, heaps of kiters in the lagoon.

Iles de la Societe, Raiatea (where the national regatta takes place) Huahine and surely a lot more are paradise!

Shop wise, there is only Alex who sells from his grocery shop , Nahoata in Arue. Depending on the year he imports whatever he feels like, it's almost different every year.

From May to Septembre, the wind would blow pretty much everyday.

Enjoy

Give it a good La Nina (and hence strengthened Trades) and this place in Kiribati looks pretty awesome...
