Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has a bit more experience with this particular sail could give me some pointers. Not many people on this side of Oz using sailing Severne kit so hard to compare.
I've been using the 5.7m for a while now, love it and I'm probably gonna get the 2011 model. My question is, do I have it rigged right? And the other thing is, would I notice much difference going to the Severne mast? Thinking of possibly getting a Severne mast as well if there would be a benefit, I'm currently using a '10 Powerex 85% RDM.

On the day, it felt probably a tiny bit over downhauled, but i'm suspicious because I've got my extension set on 28cm when the luff is meant to be 433cm. I seem to keep up with other people on similar sized kit fairly well, so anyway, just a bit confused about whether or not I'm rigging this sail properly and wanna get it sorted before I drop money on the '11 model.
I was using a Simmer Icon before this which was an amazing sail, awesome shape, and heaps stable, great range both in terms of low end grunt and top end speed. To me the SWAT seems twitchier, seems to be close enough in terms of low end grunt, but doesn't have the same top end speed, However the fact that its heaps lighter, means I prefer it for the type of sailing I do.
I have not used a Severne for a couple of years and even then it was a 2005 model so take with a grain of salt...... but based on other brands and older Severnes this looks like it is rigged about right for mid range wind (or a bit less wind than mid range maybe). Needs about 10-15mm more downhaul when rigged for max, and 30mm more for waay overpowered (like 5.2 weather)

That looks pretty good. The Swats have a bit more shape beneath the boom than a lot of other sails so it may look a bit weird but it's how it works.
I have used this size SWAT, it don't look to bad, yer they definately rig better on th severne ,mast, i would only prob change the outhaul, maybe back it off one hole on your boom, each SWAT is design for different wind not just made bigger or smaller for each size.. the 5.7m is a really grunty sail so has a bit of gut to it, the best way i could rig it was to have the batten above the boom just sneaking behind the mast a little, about 2/3 the way along the bottom batten will just touch the boom.. to much outhaul tends to make the power move back a bit to far..
Cheers guys, it looked fairly right to me, but I wasn't sure mainly cause the downhaul was so out of spec... but I don't have a downhaul pulley or anything so maybe thats why? Would be nice to get a severne mast to compare, but seems like noone uses severne kit over here.
P.C: yer i usually adjust the outhaul a bit more once I get in the water, so when I'm powered the sail will be just off the boom.
Anyway, super nice sail, specially considering how cheap they are, $680RRP for the '11 awesome 
it's only got 4 battens? doesn't that mean it's for kids or beginners?

swoosh thats a sweet setup.. but avoid catapulting that boom at all costs..
Im defo keen on the 2011 SWAT, and a pretty good retail price as well..
haha, yeah first few times i used that boom, i was checking like every 5 minutes to make sure i wasn't bent!
seems to have held up so far thou,.. but then i haven't crashed it hard yet.
any recommendations for a better boom? something a bit stiffer would be nice. i was thinking of getting the hybrid version...
