We are thinking of going to Bali for a holiday. I have been doing a bit of Internet surfing and it seems that Sanur Beach has a club on beach that you can hire windsurfing gear from. It is right in front of the Sanur beach Hotel which reading some reviews seems pretty good. There is an International kite (not the kite surfing type) festival around July I think, so i am guessing this would be a good time to go? The tide maybe a factor as a few reviewers have complained that its to shallow to swim. Does anyone have any experiences of windsurfing there, ie gear on hire is good or bad, good bad times to go. General comments on area as I will be taking the family as well , who don't windsurf , yet.

This was 4yrs ago,,, there was a top local bloke, with a shop on the water front as you head down towards the river mouth, who was hiring ok gear out.... Watch out for the cobra snakes!!! One was hiding under a board!!! Which was promptly executed and buried in the beach.....
The winds were quite light the time of yr we were there June.,About 15 to 18 knts was as good as it gets.... the waves were Very impressive though, especially the reef in front of the break water.
You can't sail at low tide.

when I was last at sanur about 2 years ago was going to hire gear there too, took one look at it and wisely decided not too, the monofilm sails where ready to explode anytime and gear was average to say the least, didn't want to end up paying for damage that was surely going to happen.
club med at nusa dua had about 40 boards and rigs even cam sails from pryde and slalom gear as well but had to stay there to use it.
Nice, there is a number for a windsurfer hire place , I might call them soon to quiz them on best time of year for wind and what gear they have. There are tide charts on net to try coincide this as well.
