Hi! So I'm new to the forum and kind of new to windsurfing in general (4 seasons behind me, each consisting of two weeks of daily windsurfing).
So I'm very light and quite small. And not so strong. I windsurfed with sails max 3.9 (meters squared, that it). I'm light enough to be able to go really fast (forgot the right term) on a 3.9 sail, 110L desk (on which I can stand comfortably, I don't sink it in any way) and with 11 knots. So my question: what kind of goal, regarding the sail, should I set for myself for the next season? 4.2? 4.5?
There's no way I'm even picking up anything above a 6, btw.
Thanks!

I think a 4.0 on the "desk" would be sweet.
Really fast ? many variations exist, scary fast, Mach, nukelar fast, and the old one faster than a speeding bullet.
Happy 2020 season, get on with it

More information needed. Actual weight? Foot straps? Harness? Planing? Tacking or jibing? Typical wind you sail in? At least a 5.0 would be my guess, but without more information, it's hard to say.

Sail gaps should be smaller in smaller sizes. In race sails, having a 7m and 8m would be normal, but for little stuff like your 3.9 the next sail up would be 4.2. Then maybe 4.5 and 5.0.

How light is really light and how fast is really fast?

More than anything else you need to find a way to get on the water much more often.

If you want to move up in sail sizes then try a 4.2 next.
have you also considered moving down a board size, so you can get out there in more wind?
