Like most blokes I tend to hang on to equipment for a bit longer than I should......
As our shed is undergoing a major overhaul (new cladding, study / studio area for the bride etc) I started throwing out things / objects to give us a bit more working space.
All was going well, the skip bin full of found/ accumulated objects that either had an intended purpose (sometimes long since forgotten) or were merely off cuts or leftovers that should have been thrown away earlier.
Then my gaze fell upon the windsurfing gear......
Now I am not AUS 4 and have heaps of gear, but I do have a little stack. Sadly I began to analyse how much use some objects had actually had in the past two years
Item 1 - Extreme Slalom 270 '95 model - still watertight and incredibly light - aaah the memories - not used
Item 2 - KA Stealth 2 6.1 - when combined with above and a bueatifull LE B4 it was perfect for Swan river sailing in summer - not used
Item 3 - Severne SSR 11.0 - sail won me the FE+ titles in 2010 when I returned to sailing
Sadly 2,3 were beyond reasonable repairs and after they were stripped of all the good bits they were placed in the skip - the board was placed on the verge and within minutes a young dude in a lowered ute swung buy and snaffled it
My kids asked me why I was looking forlorn
"I said goodbye to a couple of old friends today....."
