would anybody know whether Rotto has any decent windsurfing spots that would make it worth taking kit over for a week?

yeah, all depends on wind location obviously but for waves the surf spots are pretty good, tombstones and the a couple more. U'll need a pushie with some racks. Or you could rig up at Thompsons bay and sail there, but u'd have to do some upwind punishment tacking.
