I like 'speed sailing' even though my sailing is hardly very speedy. I just like sailing in flatwater, learning, getting kit balanced and cruising while seeing GPS numbers go up as i progress, turns, distance etc.
But, is there a bit of competitor in me? I think so!

Signing up for Burrum Windfest this year i am delighted to see that there are 3 divisions. If you have PB top speed under 33kts you are in div 3, the rookies.
So now i get to feel that competitor buzz as an average sailor new to it in comparison to the big dogs.

Very much looking forward to it. Come and battle rookies!

I was just going for a look and take part as it's such a nice spot, but now! I'm working out, stretching, sanding fins, visualizing, etc.
If i can manage a run down that magical mile without fin spinout, and don't get too scared, i'm gonna smoke you rookies!

I guess there will be some very good sneaky sailors with PB under 33 and i'll be severely humbled, and every foil will smoke us all, but anyway, it's a good rush to have a try with similar ranked sailors alongside better sailors.

Looking forward to seeing experts do their thing there if Huey comes to the party, and hopefully some rookies like me will be there too.

I'll try to rig for fast fast. But being rookie I'm not sure I know how exactly to do that yet. Sounds like catapult recipe.
If I catapult or the beast carbon fin sends me flying again I'm blaming you Dave.

Spray your boardies with Mr Sheen because it cuts down on drag. You can bet that none of your competitor will think of that detail

Most people up there wear a Kathy Freeman suit a few where in drag last year but we fixed that and used
as Mark said Mr sheen .

I think this is a stitch up. I've heard Mr Sheen is not fast.

I've thought about a Kathy suit but I've got better.
Just discovered Vuplex and it's everywhere.
All sails slipperyer than a snake in water. And i'll be able to see the all the rookies i blast past through them clearly now, give em a game face as i go past and pshyc em.

Masts have the secret Vuplex treatment too, so I can jam them up the luff pocket quick if rapid speed kit change necessary on the beach and save back muscle sailing power.

And my body. Shaved and vuplexed to the max.
Nothing but the boulder holder and life jacket will slow me down.
