Hi Windsurfing crew, Here's a little write up from this years Robe Easter Classic,
Thanks to everyone who made the trip down this year for the Robe Easter Classic, we all had another cracking weekend.
Wind may have been on the light side for the 4 days, but there was plenty of waves to keep everyone entertained. Due to the conditions, we changed the format slightly with the results, Best Windsurfer, Best Sup Rider and an Encouragement Award.
Tom White (aka The Mexican) took out the windsurfing gong, with solid riding in Fridays 8-10 knots at Beachport, as well as another short sharp session on Sunday afternoon at Third Ramp Robe.
Scott McKercher won the SUP award, with some powerful wave riding in sometimes less than ideal waves at both Beachport and Robe, - some one get this guy a sponsor!
The encouragement award went to James Barr, who surfed his brains out all weekend, as well as made some solid moves in the windsurfing comp on Sunday afternoon,
Other notable mentions go to Gen for hitting the waves at Beachport in light winds on Friday, taking a few beatings along the way, but smiling the whole time.
We had 19 competitors this year, with some new faces making the journey to the SE
Big thanks to all the businesses that supported this years Robe Easter Classic, Severne, Starboard, Flying Objects, Smik Sup (top effort Scott for making the trip over from WA) Jachmans Cider - couldn't do it without you guys!
Here's a quick edit from the event, see you all next year, Stay tuned for WindsurfingSA Winter Wave Series announcement!
Pretty sure the Obelisk is out of bounds, the cliffs are pretty crumbly on that section of the coast. I'm not sure if you were ever allowed up to the obelisk?
