I sailed at Safety Bay a week ago today. I was pretty stacked on a 4.7m sail and the water was choppy as hell. As a result I spent most of my time flying along with my board slamming over the chop. My harness always seems to ride up so I tightened up a bit. On reflection I don't think it was too tight.
Anyway, after coming off the water I felt like I had done something to my left side lower ribs. Tender right at the base of the rib cage. Anyhow, one week later and I am struggling to sleep and the pain is still there.
I have not bothered seeing the Doctor, as I suspect my harness has done some damage when it was riding up. Thing is, I am not sure what it has done. The other strange thing is that the left side of my stomach seems to have lost sensation and if I pinch it, I get a different feeling to the right side. Seems to indicate possible nerve damage.
Anyone on here done something similar and if so what was the diagnosis?
Doesn't sound like rib fracture (but could always get xray to rule out).
Sounds like may have thoracic disc bulge (putting pressure on nerve) which could explain referred pain and numbness.
Might be worth getting checked out, symptoms sound fairly serious. Also would want to rule out any abdo injuries.
Hope this helps
