Hi all, just throwing it out there to see how much interest there would be in getting a race board class going on Lake Macquarie. I'm sure there are plenty of old F2 Lightnings, Equipes, Pan ams and One Designs still out there just wanting to get wet again. I know by just returning to the sport it is very expensive to get new gear especially large sails. We could make a class similar to Hybrib / Retro boards and cap the sail size at 7.8 or thereabouts as well as cater for new boards such as Phantom 377. There is a good turnout in Sydney at Dobroyd so I'm sure we could get something similar going in the future.
Good on you for putting it out there. If I was local I'd be in for sure.
I'd like to do the same in Pittwater. My angle is to make it a one board, one sail thing. I can see how that wouldn't be to everyone's taste though.
Anything is possible, having fun without spending thousands on the latest gear has to appeal to a few people. There will always be the minority that is against it, but they can sail elsewhere

Count me in.
Love Lake Macq, but as a Pittwater local I'm keen to encourage a 'longboard' racing group. I know of another 6 or so that are also keen for regular or even irregular Pittwater longboarding. Perhaps we could start a Topic thread titled "PITTWATER LONGBOARDERS" on the NSW tab (ie. Raceboards, OneDesign, other Longboards etc).
I'm currently WINDSURFER OneDesign but am also considering options for Raceboard.
I hope to be out on Pittwater this arvo/evening to push upwind into hopefully the fresh NorEaster - up to vicinity West Hd, back to vicinity NorEast cnr of Scotland Is and repeat for what ever distance/area the breeze holds-up. Yes I prefer marathons. ALL Longboarders very welcome.
Don't worry about me, didn't have any takers so I'll just race myself, at least I will win every week. If you get the numbers down there I'll just sail with you guys from time to time.
