I always thought Hoyle Shweitzer was the guy who invented the windsurfer, maybe he refined the idea.

The guy was named Newman! Do you think his mum thought of that? I reckon dad just snuck out and filled out the paperwork without consulting mum. Makes me think of The Trueman Show.
This is not the actual Newman but may be his girlfriend.
Not to take anything away from Newman or Sweitzer, but I remember reading about this cool pterosaur that scientists claim used its 35ft wingspan not just for flying but sailing when travelling long ocean distances-about 100 mil years ago.It apparently had "battened" wings that were placed in vertical offset positions to maximise lift generated from the cranial wing/rudder allowing it to exceed the speed of wind. And looks like it came in Severne orange too!
