no surprise most windless place is just up the road

pozo start has been pushed back. Surely can't be lack of wind

I think they waited for the waves to pick up before starting the wave sailing. Ben said on the live stream the organisers said slalom was never planned for day 1. Maybe they should have let the viewing public know.

Absolutely!

I also like the format that they are using now, 2 best sailors through to the next round instead of having 2 x 2 sailors going against each other. This way you. get the best of each heat advancing.

From the PWA website, about today:

Well, the forecast certainly wasn't lying when it promised more strong winds for Day 3 of the Gran Canaria Gloria Windsurf World Cup as it's already howling and it still looks like there's a bit of a bump, only slight problem could be that it's not high tide for another hour, so we'll have to see if the waves last through high tide, the good news is that they are only neaps rather than springs. Wave skippers' meeting coming up at 9:30am - followed by the Slalom skippers' at 9:45am.

Alessio thru again. He looks to be enjoying the gear and conditions.

shame about Fiji. Must be tuff for the organisers as it looks like the WSL got the money

I like this new wave event format. The final top positions were decided with the better conditions. If a full double had taken place, that could have finished with not so good conditions. Some of the top sailors knocked out in the later stages had a repecharge heat, for a second chance. The 'double' to be completed, will decide places below 9th place. There should be wind & waves (of some sort) to finish that off.
Seems if they have a solid weeks forecast for a wave event, the traditional double elimination format will be used, but this gives a better chance of a fair result if the week just has a couple of days decent forecast.
