Hello sailing freaks!
Recently, my back had been getting a beating with mattress and harness issues along with frontloop back slaps. Changing the mattress, moving away from Dakine T-Series to the ION Radium and staying sheeted in longer during forwards seem to help quite a bit.
Now I was curious to know whether anyone had thoughts in regards to best-fitting waist harnesses for those who have (or not have) pelvis tilt?

Everybody fits harness's differently, best bet is to go into a stack of shops and try them on and hang of them for an extended period.
Don't forget to try Kite harness's as well as they often have bit better (or different support) to windsurf harness (you just have ignore the b1tch grip on the back.

In regards to waist harnesses being better/worse for your back, my belief is they are much much better for your back when fully loaded as they help induce/maintain lumbar lordosis which really frees up the lumbar pelvic area to work as intended. Seat harnesses tend to fix the lower back into a less healthy "C" shape resulting in potential disc issues and nerve pain.
Best bet is to try a few different ones.
Be careful with the kite style as some of their bars have a more of a hook,. Not ideal as windsurfing we need to be able to unhook.
Sliding spreader bars vs fixed also worth considering to help with the twisting loads put through the lower spine.
Try wearing the harness a bit more looser fitting, this allows a few more core muscles to work properly when they haven't had the life squeezed out of them.

Give the Severne Air a go if you get chance, although its a wave harness you wear it really loose so it drops down low on your hips. Feels a bit like a seat harness when you got it right so a lot less load on your back and you can hold more power down. I went from 32 to 34 inch lines when I got one this summer because it rides so low. Very comfy considering its weight.
