Thumbs Up

Thanks to the guys that turned up to the first of the Pelican Point Twilight Season.

Conditions were less that perfect with a rain squall coming through with gust around 30 knots, hard to keep dry with rain at 45 degrees. The rain and wind stopped Ben went for a short sail that had everyone else looking for an SUP and a paddle. We managed to start racing a few minutes after 6.00 (plan to start spot on 6.00 next week). Not what we had hoped for conditions wise, but at least we had a field of 7 out on the water having fun.

The first race Jesper one closely followed by Paul, which was a great effort as it was his first time paddling, Bjorn followed in third.

Second race with the guys having had a bit of practice we had a tighter field, Jesper was doing some on water coaching, which was great to see.

We had a slightly suspect finish, but it was all good fun, Bjorn was first over followed by Paul, for his second 2nd place for the day and Daniel picked up a few spot to come 3rd.

Overall Results
1 Bjorn
2 Paul
3 Jesper
= 4 Daniel
= 4 Mark
= 6 Dayne
= 6 Chris

So guys head down next Wednesday to Pelican Point the weather will definitely be better, forecast is for 20kn.

Seems to be a few issues uploading photos at present, but I will upload some soon.

Pelican Point Summer Twilight Series

10th and 17th of December.

14th, 21st and 28th of January.

Briefing 5.50 Start 6.00pm

We are organizing a Wednesday night twilight series during December and January. Why should the Yachties have all the fun?

* This is just for fun and is designed to attract sailors that want a bit of fun not for the ultra competitive.

* We will get on the water at 6.00 whatever the wind.
o Windy = slalom/freeride gear.
o Light = big boards.
o Super Light = Stick your rig on a SUP (Stand Up Paddle board)
o No Wind = Sup Race (board and paddle supplied)

We will be starting and will have a course to sail as per a normal race, so you can get the feel of how racing works. We will have a number of the top sailors sailing, so you can pick up a few tips and we will have a score board to put your finishing position. So it is great training for the real thing.

Ever tried using a GPS to record your highest speed? Windsurfing WA has six GPS units that are available to borrow, so you can see how your speed compares with other sailors. We will keep the results and see how you improve during the season

In the same way the yacht clubs attract experienced and experienced sailors all just wanting to have some fun we are going to do the same. Bring down some mates or come down by yourself everyone welcome

Don't forget to bring along some drinks and nibbles so we can all catch up latter for a chat. We might even organise some pizza for the first week.

SMALL PRINT
This is not an organised race. it is a social get together that is all about being safe and having fun. Every sailor is responsible for their own safety and should only sail within their capabilities. Be aware at all times of other water users, it is your responsibility to be safe on the water. By suggesting this get together we are in no way taking any responsibility for yours or others safety.
