I really dont understand why you poledancers are soooooo worried about weather kiteing or sailboarding is beter or not.If you enjoy what you are doing, why worry about what others are doing????

Where I live there are only about six regular wind junkies, half are kiters and half are dancers. We all get along great and respect each other and even try each others sport. We all look out for each other and help each other out.

I think all you city folk need to not worry who is cool and who isnt and just enjoy the buzz,we are all out there for the rush.

What it boiles down to is that if a spot gets banned , it wont just be kiteing,it will be all water craft over 5 knots so we all loose.

Its not a question of "poledancers" getting worried. Its a case kitesurfers coming onto this forum and telling us we are a bunch of old, cowardly morons who do a stupid sport that is completely crap and will be dead in a matter of minutes.

How would you like it if someone went onto the kiting forum and said kiters are a bunch of pricks who do a stupid sport that besides making you look like an idiot has nothing going for it besides being able to be lifted into the air without putting any skill into it. It wouldn't be that good would it?

No one forces yourself or any other kiter to come here. However some of them do, try to bait us through disparaging remarks just like "poledancer". You don't get it. Poles are found on dry land, like a flag pole. A mast is found on a vessel to keep a mast up. What does a pole have in common with a mast? You don't hoist a sail up on pole.

If you or any other kiter comes here you should show a bit of respect. In return you will get some respect. If a kiter comes here talking rubbish then how should we treat them? Sure you can have a bit of fun and a bit of good natured banter, but when you are labelled as a F***head its hardly fun.

Personally I think if any kiter comes here to troll for a reaction their account should be suspended for a few days. If they continue to do it then they should be banned along with the IP and email address they are using. Sure you can change these addresses but it might tell them something. Same goes for any windsurfer going on the kiting forum just stirring people up.

Funny how a majority of posts like this end up turning into a kiters vs. windsurfers slog fest. Surely if the talk in these forums was expressed face to face there would be a lot of agro taking place at good wind sport spots, why have I not seen this agro yet?

Essentially kiting and windsurfing is based on similar principals and hence attracts similar people. Harness mother natures wind to ride a board of some description and have a good time doing it.

Can someone show me where the sheep station that's up for grabs is?

We're all here for a good time, and arguing over who's sport is better is pointless. May as well argue over what colour shoes you wear. (I wear thongs)

Bowls is a great sport too, a game of skill. Its a great complementy sport to both kiting and windsurfing. Nothing like playing a few games of lawnbowls, going back to the clubhouse, sinking a few schooners of beer and putting a few bucks through the pokies.

Great way to spend the day. However you will get some fool coming onto the lawn bowl forum saying lawn bowls a game for losers and morons and ten pin bowling is the way to go.

No sometimes they don't completely disregard existing culture, just change it around, and incorporate it into their "conversions"

Look at the end of the day we all look out for each other on the water in the event of an emergency.

LIKE A BLOCKED **** PIPE ,OK TILL THE **** OVER FLOWS

SEVERAL INCIDENTS HAVE RECENTLY GORN DOWN ON THE MID WEST COAST OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS.

Kiters have launched amoungst children and been tuned by several parents , Sailed between 30 to 40 Windsurfers whilst lerning . Kited up wind all afternoon ,yelling out they dont understand (ANYTHING )/ telling crew to get fked,as i understand it there were exchanges nearly every x-cross. Kiters jumping from up wind and landing amoungst windsurfers anywhere from 5m to 50m from the take off point ,dropping the kite supper low recovering from jumps, and dropping them low on the way in.

Kites trawling / driffting through the break totally ghoasting /and as the sun setting

There was a lot of people sooooo over it ........

[bIt would be good if the Kite shops and instructors started training crew ........correctly [/b] This may help.

Problem
1 Often they have never windsurfed / got no ideal at all.
2 Kook windsurfer whom believes he has moved on to greener pastures
3 has labled windsurfing locations ideal for kiting

oh 4 The master Knowen as the cross dresser .He Kites and windsurfs but hasnt improved in both for several years And is out there just to get in the way.

Play we shall, but it looks like you got to play harder and smarter.

Bring it on.

Once again aggression- I have seen windsurfers do stupid stuff too.......

At the end of the day society does not accept violence from one human towards another- the way that some people are speaking on here is unacceptable.

I really think both sides should take some time to understand each other and half these problems would be resolved..a bit of respect from both sides coupled with some knowledge would go a long way.

Maybe some kiters do deserve a tongue lashing but this forum is starting to get ugly and jokes are getting taken too far and starting to cause some unrest on both sides-----I remember when it was fun.

Chillax yall....

I like the original "Pale Blue Dot" by Carl Sagan better.

Watch it after you get all upset because someone took your parking spot or some other equally 'world shattering event' to put things back in a proper perspective.

The older I get the more sense it makes.
I think that might be why we are given "three score years and ten" in this life, so that we might finally come to some appreciation of what is important and what is not.
And somehow I don't think parking spots is one of them, but parking your car or trailer or anything you do in life with consideration for others is.

Oh my god! I cannot believe that one parking mistake has made so much anger and built up crap come out. Listen people, I'm a waterman - A person who respects that place and those who are in it as it brings peace. In my two years here I have seen only a few. WA is totally spoilt by it's wind and conditions, yet I see no one in winter riding or at sunset when the ambience is magic. I have been to locations all around the world in 9 years. You need to get out more. We have it so good here it sets such a high level of complacency It sickens me. Look! Sorry about the parking ok. I'm a peaceful guy, who lives by the water. I teach at the cross and try to keep the place safe and give advice when needed, but you'd know that if you bothered to talk to me. I feel like people really like to talk with confidence on the net and forums. What about face to face. Are we that bad here that we've lost the art of communication. I'm perplexed. Well done sir. A picture paints a thousand words. Probably more than that on a forum. Please redefine your reason for being out there as this forum wouldn't exist as we would all be communicating on the beach. Peace!!

Quite simply this IS about respect, respect for others.
You could have shifted your vehicle when you saw the car park fill up.
We were windsurfing until 7:45pm - sunset I believe, and you did not come back. If I knew who you were at the time I would have come and asked.
I feel for the people who left frustrated due to lack of available parking it was a great day on the water for those who could make it.
Peace - you will find me at Melville ask around.
