There are some lovely windsurfers on this forum, but some or us might sometimes wonder why Pro windsurfing events are rarely covered here.
The PWA professional racing and wave events might not be everyone's cup of tea - but I love them, and the annual Pozo wave event, in windy Gran Canaria, is always one of the best. It's also a PWA, fully funded, five star event, with competitors earning proper prize money.
In this case, for Pozo 2025, the wind and wave forecast is great for the first two days, and there's a livestream from Saturday morning.
Indeed the forecast for the whole week is not bad, so we are guaranteed action, more than beachside interviews.
This event certainly needs a thread here.
The interviews on 'facebook reels' tonight have been heart warming, in the build up, and as the energy builds.
The hope is that the livestream starts at 10.15am, but that's local time - or in my case, UK time.

Agree, these events are absolutely brilliant to watch. I watch every pro men's heat on the replay livestream and it generally gives me a week or more pleasure as there's a lot of heats lol.
I prefer the YouTube livestream, replay works a treat:

Love these events too. If it's on it's on my tv from start to finish.
Who's your picks for winners this event.

3. Stillrich

What' more does Philip Koster got to do to make this list?
I predict Browne, Koster and Pare for the podium.
And a new benchmark in wave stunts if conditions happen.
Conditions looking good on the local webcams

He was on my list. I went for stillrich because he looks to be in form right now. All my choices were biased towards jumping and whilst koster is one of the best jumpers on the planet the guys on my list have been releasing vids where they look to be in awesome form.
agree about wave stunts.
id like to see the scoring change to include more moves or an extra jump category based on evolution
I picked Koster, Browne, Pare, and Merino Gil, in that order.
Turns out I got the last two the wrong way round.
The double elimination starts early on Sunday, and they have a great forecast.
Was an epic final. Koster is the man!!
basher you are supposed to pick your players before the comp ends.
women's picks?
Fwiw. I'm finding 2 screens the go to watch. Am streaming YouTube on my tv and have an iPad beside me on the pwa website so I can see all the scores
At home atm catching up with Covid ![]()
so it's been great watching the wave sailing. Even my wife has enjoyed it.Covid for her too.

women's picks?
That was indeed the best final - and livestream - for some years, helped by the plot twist drama of Koster ending up on the rocks in the first final.
I think most people picked the top four men likely to do well, but at one stage today I thought Campello's comeback would prove me wrong.
As far as the women go, there's still a windy forecast for Monday.
Daida Moreno is a wild card, so her early rounds confuse the seeding, and I haven't worked out who she will come up against.
On paper, you'd still pick Daida for the win, in a close fight with Sarah Quita.
But there are also up and coming sailors, like Alexia, and Sol.
But with Lina Erpenstein out, I've got Justyna Sniady as third.
In truth, there will be someone else, an unexpected name, who deals better with these strong wind conditions. If they hold a double later this week, in lighter winds, that may change again.

It was really good to watch. The top guys are flying.
Campello is the Messi/renaldo of windsurfing. He has the ability to turn nothing into a win. Not a lot of people can do that. Stillrich's jumps are insane. Surely he got the highest air. Been a fan for a while. Best pushloop in the game. He was my wildcard for the men's and seems to be really enjoying the Bruch kit.
has Moritz begun the era of the pit stop, changing rigs depending on if you are catching waves or jumping. Will that take off.
Snaidy was my wildcard card too. Something changed with her jumps this past season looking at her socials. Way more height!
Wants to mention again the scoring. Why will they not include freestyle moves on the wave or give better score on back loops off the lip etc. would be good to see things expand and creativity be encouraged.
It has been incredible to watch so far! I think we (as spectators) could not have asked for more (tripple elimination anyone?!).
