I saved this wooden treasure from certain destruction at the tip.Does anybody know its age, the designer or anything else about it? I haven't sailed it yet and I'm considering French polishing it and hanging it on the wall of my shop as an ornamental item.
I could be entirely wrong, and am happy to stand corrected. but it looks more to me like someones not too ancient home science project, rather than a board from the very beginning. I'll say it again, i could be completely wrong...

I had the same thought, could be someone's prototype for lighter winds and upwind/downwind type sailing. Having said that I found this photo from a howto windsurf book published 1978 (reprint 1989) and one on far right does have similar shape.

It also reminded me of the 'Australian Sailfish' sailing dinghy. I bought one as a kid from paper-round savings, looks like class has recently been resurrected australiansailfish.wordpress.com/

A salty sailboarder friend provided me with a universal for the board. As a "modern" wood working project, I would have thought that the maker would have used proper fin boxes not a slot in fin arrangement. I am guessing late 70s.
3 centre board s ...maybe replace with 3 foils ....and you could give those America cup dudes a run for their money ![]()
What's your (gu)estimate of the volume?
I haven't sailed it yet but I am guessing around the 110 litre mark. It is hollow inside so I could fill it full of expandable foam if the volume isn't high enough for my weight.
>>> It is hollow inside so I could fill it full of expandable foam if the volume isn't high enough for my weight.
????????
Filling it with foam will just make it heavier and won't give you any more volume. It will have less floatation!
Or am I misunderstanding you?

Correct, but foam would stop it from sinking if it took on water!

And he said expandable!
