Am looking to travel to a speed event to give it a go, but travel practicalities mean it would be easier to only take my new twin cam quiver but not my newish boards (100L + 125L Futuras).
A local can kindly lend me the same boards, but they are 10+ years older. If I bring my new carbon fins and the decent modern sails, am I going to feel OK going overpowered in a straight line on flattish water ?
Ability : decent intermediate. Seems to me at my level I probably wont feel much difference, just happy to rig big and hang on - and jibing not a tactical issue.
Its for the fun and thills not the extra knot, and am given the OK to smash the boards noses.
Or will I regret not taking my own ?

Not at all, my speed board is a 2010 JP 56. It works fine.
If the "old" are only 10 or 15 years old, their won't be much difference with your own.
Usually when we talk about "old slalom", we talk about the boards from the mid to late 90's. The 2000's was a transition decade shape wise. And by 2010 slalom and freeride boards reach the dimensions we are used to now, I would say.
yes - 10yrs older than what Futuras...? That is the key. I know you said newish but.....
If we are talking say 2008-9 onwards the speed boards are going to be good. So little has changed in speed boards in the last 10-12yrs that it is irrelevant to you at the level you describe. They will eat your Futura for breakie on a speed course anyway.
The most highly regarded small fast slalom board that so many people report as sooo gooooood was a 2015 model. A few mates still tell me their open water PB is still that board.
But boards 10+ (how much plus lol) older than a 10yr old Futura wellllll might be a different story ....
Offered for use is a Futura 101L from 2005.
If it blows too much for a 125L board I will rig this one with a Turbo 5,5 or an NCX 6,0 and a Select Rhino Pro 32 fin.
I cannot bring my Futura 100L from 2022.

100l will work, but if there's enough wind for 5.5-6.0m, speedsailing on flat water, a smaller board will be better/faster. For me at 95kg, I go straight to my 80l 10yr old slalom board if wind is 20-25kts +
