Hi guys, have any of you used this camera on a mount for windsurfing? If so, would be interested in hearing your opinions please.

Not really interested in a GoPro as I want to use it as an everyday camera as its primary purpose, but would be good if I could mount it on my mast or boom for some footage.

Thought about the Panasonic TS4 as it got good reviews for image quality and features, but have read many comments about it leaking, so not really considering that one.

Check out the JVC Adixxion which is apparently a really good camera.

The real catch for using a camera on a mount is the capability to do interval shooting. I.e. 1photo every 10 secs until the card is full or you tell it to stop. Most of these cameras do not support this feature. The Pentax wg-1/2 range does. Please ensure that the camera you choose does as well as it is usually really hard to reach the shutter button once mounted. some come with remote controls, but hitting the button at just the right time while sailing will take a fair bit of practice, especially when wave sailing!
Video from any of these cameras will pale when compared to go pro 2 footage, but you will get good stills from them.
Hope this helps

For movies and still while sailing, I would go go a go pro, has great options for mounts on boom, mast, board etc.... Or go for a contour ( haven't tried one of hese yet)

I take my Panasonic FT3 in my pocket for filming surfing and windsurfing of others around me, a much better point and shoot than t he Go Pro.

The Panasonic doesn't take a bad photo

I also have a flymount that you can put a small pocket camera on, but it weighs a fair bit, especially if you have it. On the mast tip looking down.

Hey Divaldo, how's the video quality on the Pansonic? They got good reviews for their pics, and certainly a well priced camera.

I have the FT3 as well, and had my first one replaced.... it leaked.. the second has been good, but have only taken it on very casual sailing days.

I have mostly used a gopro, which recently leaked after 18 months of use .... they should tell you to replace the cover after 12 months to save you $300+ in replacing camera :/ Water leaked through the seals....

For both I used the flymount, which never fails.... I feel pretty safe about the cam connected to that.

Am now considering another gopro...... and will change cases every 12 months to be safe....
