This is driven by a Sailworks NX 7.0. Luff is 459. Swks recommends a mast of 430, necessitating a tall 29+ cm extension. So I'm starting with a 430 mast and a 38 cm Chinook Tall RDM alloy extension.
The question: it possible to have too much extension inside a mast? For example, if I buy a second sail with 433 luff, am I ok to bury the full 38 cm Chinook in my 430 mast or should I be buying a second, short extension for that sail/mast combination?
Just trying to get my head around this stuff so I don't end up with 5 extensions and a much lighter wallet. Any advice is appreciated.
The extension would/should have enough going into the mast when set to full extension. I would think that the shorter the extension the better but my 7.8 says 430mast and a 30cm extension and so far so good
The Chinook tall is fine for both proposals.
Discussion on extensions , that using the full length could result with a broken/ bent item.
valid concern, but done all the time , and the EXT is made to do just this.
