Hi Everyone

Bought my first board yesterday - Starboard Rio S with 6m Severn Convert sail - can't wait to pick it up tomorrow and get cracking!

i have had a couple of lessons recently, but would appreciate a heads up on any good / useful material on here for new board owners.

i look forward to being an active member of your community here and learning lots from the gurus!

cheers

Dave

Grab a hammer and give the nose of the board a good bash. It's going to happen anyway so you may as well get the pain over as soon as possible.
To be serious, just get out on the board and give it a go. If you have a problem, look up previous posts, lots of good info and suggestions already on the site. If this doesn't help, plenty of advice to be had here, some of it is even useful!!!!
Just to start you off, most often when learning, the nose of the board will want to come around into the wind, if you are pulling on the sail and you just seem to be drifting, this is probably what is happening. Keep forcing the nose off the wind by raking your sail forward.

Welcome to the addiction Dave. How deep are your pockets As you improve you will get more and more gear and then a bigger and bigger vehicle to carry it around! I have a mid height Transit van atm
Get some mates to sail with. Ask heaps of questions and get some lessons
Catch you on the water

And then you'll whittle down to your favourite board and one or two sails, while the rest fill up your garage and gather dust. Avoid the equipment race!
